A Little of the Old In and Out

Beck%20-%2007

In: The Flash Dude at Beck's Hiro Ballroom Performance. Who is this audacious man, this slab of beef, this superlative example of "manliness," clad only in skeletal scarlets, oscillating wildly, exhibiting crisp (The Corsair swings abruptly) ... chop-sockey maneuvers with bold dispach?

(The Corsair pours himself a glass of grappa) A Little Backstory, First: The Corsair is not really a "Beck" fan (Was once, at the beginning, but kind of fell out of it over the years), we resisted attending the hyped Hiro performance (We had a previous party engagement, may have attended otherwise, as we know some who did). But we have seen the video clip of the "Flash" dude that everyone in the blogosphere -- okay, just Aziz -- is talking about. And Flashdude amusing, in a sort of Napoleonic Dynamite way, (Spastic jerks delivered to the beat of one's own drum) as the video on Azizisbored makes clear:

" ... I must give a shoutout to Beck's homeboy in red. This guy was a dancer/tambourine player/homey that was on the left of the stage the whole show. Seriously, this guy kicks so much ass it is ridiculous. Red Flash shirt, red headband, red wristbands, aviators, and the sweetest dance moves I've seen a while - duder was just amped and on point the whole show."

The red wristbands may have been a tip off that the gentleman was not indeed an actual "homie."But whether his personal style is "fire," well, that's neither here nor there. Hiro Ballroom videoclips here.

Out: Lizzie Grubman and Chris Stern, Not Dating. They insist that they are not dating, they're just "eating albondigas" (Averted Gaze). But, according to those intrepid Page Sixxies:

"LIZZIE Grubman has a credibility problem. Just hours after swearing to reporters that Chris Stern was not her boyfriend, she took the Sean John marketing exec to a 'PoweRgirls' viewing party at Barna on Park Avenue South and smooched with him in front of everyone. As related by our witness: 'They were making out and sharing the albondigas [Spanish meatballs] like a scene out of the '80s Kim Basinger film '91/2 Weeks.' When the waiter brought the check, Lizzie and Chris took about 30 minutes to notice that it had been left on the table. After the power make-out session, the couple received a standing ovation from the large bar crowd. Lizzie smiled and said, 'Thanks,' on their way out."

To, no doubt, eat more "albondigas." (winkwink)

In: Congressman Tom Tancredo. Sure, The Congressman is to the right of Atilla the Hun on Immigration issues, and he is not our cup of tea, but he is pure. His xenophobia notwithstanding, Tancredo doesn't play games, he is not a hypocrite (we can work with him), and, of course, he's right. Unwilling to play partisan politics (Which is why we are almost positive Tancredi will run in the Republican primaries as a Immigration spoiler in 2008 -- and break 20%, making tough Immigration policy a part of the Party platform at the Convention, his ultimate goal ), Tancredi wisely comes to the conclusion that Tom Delay should step aside -- not step down, as of yet, but clearly aside -- in order to let the Ethics Committee investigate his case and form a ruling, according to Foxnews:

"One of Congress' most conservative members on Friday became the second House Republican to urge Majority Leader Tom DeLay to step aside because of the ethics scrutiny he's facing.

"If the majority leader were to temporarily step aside so that these trumped up charges can be dealt with in a less hostile environment, as they have proven to be an unnecessary distraction, it may be a productive move," said Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo.

"Tancredo's comments come after Connecticut Rep. Chris Shays, a moderate Republican, urged DeLay to resign from his leadership position at the beginning of the week.

"Also, Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania, the No. 3 Republican in the Senate, said DeLay needs to answer questions about his ethics."

This is wise. No more replacing the Ethics Committe, no more partisan games, just ... step aside Tom Delay, at least until the Ethics Committe makes a ruling. (As if Tom Delay were reading this blog!)

Yes, of course it was EXACTLY like 9 1/2 Weeks, because who can tell the difference betw. Lizzie Grubman and Kim Basinger?
