Media-Whore D'Oevres

"Juliette Lewis is a jack of all trades (or is it a jill of all trades if you're a lady?). She's a way successful actress, she fronts the fierce rock band Juliette and the Licks, and now that she's dominated the physical world, she's taken on the virtual one. In the recently-released, mega-popular video game phenomenon that is Grand Theft Auto IV, Juliette provides the voice of 'Juliette,' the host of the GTA radio station Radio Broker. We asked her a few questions about her foray into the virtual realm and her various upcoming projects." (Papermag)

"Evan Bayh has now been a serious vice-presidential contender for three consecutive elections. In 2000, he was one of Al Gore’s four finalists (Joe Lieberman, John Kerry and John Edwards were the others), in 2004 he was given a serious look by Kerry’s campaign, and this year he is – by most press accounts – on Barack Obama’s very short list. Maybe three times will prove the charm, and maybe not." (Observer)

"After a day of campaigning in Virginia, Barack Obama is overnighting in Richmond tonight as the guest of Gov. Tim Kaine, Politico has learned from Old Dominion sources. So, is it a consolation prize for the young veep hopeful, or a warmup act for one of the biggest buddy acts in presidential history? According to Newsweek's Howard Fineman, the prospects will know soon: They've been asked where they can be reached tomorrow afternoon."(Politico)

"Shakespeare love abounded last night, when Focus Features and the the New York Public Library's Young Lions hosted the premiere of Hamlet 2 at the Tribeca Grand Hotel. Movie-goers including Fran Lebowitz, Moby and Tom Colicchio even dared to danced in their seats to the movie's catchy tune, 'Rock Me Sexy Jesus.' One of the film's stars Phoebe Strole may not have starred in Hamlet-- 'But eventually, I got to play Ophelia,' she said. 'In a twisted sort of way.'" (Fashionweekdaily)

"When I think of greeting cards I think of waste -- all that paper, all that cliche. Hallmark Business Expressions, a subsidiary of Hallmark Cards Inc., recently announced a line of green holiday greeting cards that's making me rethink my initial thoughts on the subject. The nine eco-friendly cards are made from from 50 percent sugar cane pulp and 50 percent recycled paper. 'Businesses can truly make a lasting impression this holiday season with these business holiday cards while reflecting their company values,' said Marc Wagenheim, product marketing director for Hallmark Business Expressions. 'We are pleased to provide the opportunity to collaborate with our customers to be responsible stewards of the planet.'" (KennethCole AWEARNESS)
